The EDC is located at 625 Evans Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07201
Visiting hours are from 5-9 M-F, and 9-5 on Saturday and Sunday.
The EDC is run by the for profit Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) a prison service company trading as CXW. As a for profit
company it has no self interest in reducing the number of detainees.
Although no criminals are presently housed at the EDC, detainees
are kept in prison- like conditions.
Top criticisms of the EDC include:
